Cornwall 2019
Date:
9-12 June 2019

Cornwall 2019.

After the success of the previous Tiggy Tour to Cornwall in 2018 we decided to have another one. A slightly shorter trip at just 4 days, but taking in more castles and the Eden Project again.

No staying in forts this time, we stayed in a cottage at Higher Tregawne.

On the way down to Cornwall we stopped off at Bolsover Castle for a break.

Unlike last year, the weather wasn't really on our side this Tour, so most of our trips out got rained on. We visited the Eden Project again, a lot of which is thankfully indoors. Here is a link to its own page here.

Not many photos (due to the rain) of our trip out to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, which were quite easy to find with the Sat Nav 🤷.

On the third day, a slight break in the rain meant it was OK for an outdoor castle trip. So we drove across Cornwall to the North coast to visit Tintagel Castle.

As it turned out the weather was the least of our worries this time...the place was closed! We'd picked the one time the bridge to the castle was being rebuilt so just views of the site from across the water. So just a few photo's here too including a view of Merlins cave from the mainland.

Since Tintagel was a bust we headed down the coast to Port Isac, home to TV favourite Doc Martin.

A proper view over the Atlantic ocean for Tiggy whilst we visited the village.

On the way back to base we stopped off at Launceston Castle to get some use out of our English Heritage cards, since Tintagel had been a bust.

Our last day in Cornwall continued the cloudy theme, but no rain, which was nice. With a long drive home ahead we set off early, with a quick stop off at Okehampton Castle on the way.

A trip to Cornwall wouldn't be the same without a quick stop off at Cheddar Gorge on the way home.

After another 10 hour trip back home it was time to let Tiggy have a rest. 1,019.7 miles in 4 days! 🏅
