A little different from the other Rosedale hikes which normally start, or at least pass by, Chimney Bank.
This route starts in Rosedale Abbey itself and heads North, clockwise, through farmland. Then a steep uphill to the East, onto the Moors and over the moors.
Parking here in Rosedale Abbey and follow the road east for a short distance.
Turn left off the road at the car park behind the Milburn Arms Hotel and head down the footpath along the end of some fields.
After walking through fields for about a mile turn right adn its time to head uphill. A slightly steep path, but worth it for the great views back across the valley.
The grassy path is then pretty much a straight gravel track over the moors. Following the tracks for around 3 miles.
After lots of moors you start to near some woodland, just before the woods, a nice little stream made a perfect picnic spot.
After the picnic, time to head through the woods.
The most easterley part of the path follows along the side of some woodland, but due to forestry mangement they had been cut down.
Turn right at this signpost and head towards the White House.
Passing through a couple of fields and Duks Ley Farm.
And passing through Russell's Wood.
As you walk to the left of Russell's Wood the ground got a little marshy, so be careful where you step. Then cross Hancow Road and head down this path downhill by the side of a field.
Obligatory animal pics.
Head downhill through more fields and through The Grange where you pass a pond at a higher level than the road.
It's at this point just after The Grange where you join the main road into Rosedale Abbey, turn right and follow the road back to the parking spot.
