Parking at this parking spot near Chimney Bank, this route follows the same shorter loop (Rosedale Short loop) for some of the way but avoids the torturous, steep climb through bracken and heather. This time taking a less steep, wider loop over the moors and around to Ana Cross.
Follow the road downhill towards Rosedale Abbey, then turning right onto a track behind the White Horse Farm Inn, passing through its car park. Follow the track past some holiday cottages and Bank Farm.
Head along the track for around a mile, passing by the grassy footpath on the right used on the shorter loop. This time, turning off the track at the path on the right just after Hollins Farm and heading steadily uphill.
This path is much easier and you’re soon on the top of the moors.
Follow the footpath through the heather until you get to a gravel track. Follow the track around for a mile or so, it’s here where you join the shorter loop route to Ana Cross.
As with the shorter loop, from Ana Cross, follow the track north until you get back to the road near Chimney Bank and then follow the road downhill back to the parking spot.
