A nice sunny evening so I fancied a local walk. Parking for free at the usual spot by the woods here, and heading through the woods and east along Saltburns seafront. Past The Ship Inn and up onto the cliffs, avoiding the Cleveland Way path and going inland a little bit via the gravel path past Ladgates and Brough House Farm.
This is an alternate route if you’re comfortable with cliff edges. The path between the train tracks and cliff edge is a little narrow, but it is part of the Cleveland Way so not that daunting.
Leaving Saltburn seafront, a quick pic of the pier. Then pass the Ship Inn and head up the hill, taking the right hand path, we’re not doing the Cleveland Way path, but the more inland gravel path.
Another view, from the path as I climbed up to the top of the hill.
Passing through a small wooded area, finally getting to the top of the hill, it’s then just nice and flat gravel track for a while and then along the edge of fields.
Warsett Hill with the trig point in the distance.
Before the uphill to the trig point, cross the railway line.
A closer look at Warsett Hill.
Then it’s an uphill climb around the hill in a spiral to get to the top and the trig point and some great views.
After admiring the views and seeing the sun was getting a bit low, it was time to head back down. I decided to follow an alternate route back, following the path back down the hill and over the railway line to to Brough House Farm. At the Farm turn right to the cliff tops for a closer sea view.
Back along the cliff tops, down the path to Saltburn seafront and through the valley gardens and woods to Tiggy.
